Notice Regarding Investment in JAPAN JUICE Co., Ltd.
Takara Holdings Inc. hereby announces that it has invested in JAPAN JUICE Co., Ltd. (“JAPAN JUICE”) by subscribing to part of third-party allotment of shares by JAPAN JUICE, an agro-processing manufacturer that contributes to the sustainability of Japanese agriculture.
1. Overview of JAPAN JUICE
JAPAN JUICE is a company that processes domestic fruit. Its strength lies in procuring a wide range of fruit through its connections with farms in various regions of Japan. In addition to fruit flesh and fruit juice, JAPAN JUICE also develops sustainable products utilizing even fruit skin, seeds, and leaves, leaving none of the fruit to waste. In this way, it makes efforts to create a framework for continuous purchasing of fruit at appropriate prices from agricultural regions throughout Japan.
2. Reason for investment
Takara Shuzo Co., Ltd. (“Takara Shuzo”), which engages in the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in the Takara Group, procures most of the domestic fruit juice ingredients it uses in Chu-Hi beverages, including the “Takara CRAFT” series, from JAPAN JUICE. When selecting varieties of fruit, Takara Shuzo has continued to visit producing regions with JAPAN JUICE since 2010. Furthermore, JAPAN JUICE’s fruit processing technology makes it possible to utilize fruit skin, which is conventionally not used, as an ingredient in Chu-Hi beverages, and thereby achieve sustainable product manufacturing utilizing fruit without waste. Therefore, Takara Holdings Inc. has decided to make this investment.
The investment in and cooperation with JAPAN JUICE will help us further advance our sustainability efforts and thereby allow us to solve social issues, such as ensuring the sustainability of farms by increasing the number of outlets for agricultural products.
The Takara Group will work towards achieving the Group’s Vision, “Smiles in Life” through a variety of cooperative projects with JAPAN JUICE.
